Have you ever gone on an inner journey
and wanted to share what you discovered?
🌗Many moons ago
I had been diagnosed with severe depression.
Every aspect of my life felt overwhelming, leaving me constantly fatigued.
My mind and body did not react well to antidepressants.
So, I knew I had to save myself.
I started by looking at alternative therapies such as Yoga,
grounding techniques, and self-help books some of which
incorporated teachings on meditation.
Fortunately, in the midst of my rebellious teenage, hippy years,
I surprisingly managed to listen to my parents' wisdom about their Indian roots,🙏🏽
where meditation or prayer was a daily tradition.
So equipped with a priceless, spiritual heritage and a practice that felt like home…
I delved into meditation.
The spiritual resources I studied also offered fascinating insights into stories about angels,
spirit guides, and the power of daily positive intentions.
And then one day, as if by magic 🪄, a deck of "angel oracle cards" mysteriously appeared in my living room.
(Ok, so they were a surprise gift from my man! 😉)
Now, if you aren't familiar with oracle cards, (and there's no reason why I'd expect you to be!)
they're these beautifully illustrated cards that carry short, positive messages 🌟
Their purpose is to give daily guidance.
Intrigued by them, I decided to give them a shot.
I just shuffled the deck and voila!
My oracle reading for the day!
As I continued to use them, I loved the way oracle cards were categorised and so I felt inspired to explore my favourites’:
"Ask," "Opportunity," "Intuition," and "Changes."
Then, one sunny evening, I felt a calling for a creative idea!
Without hesitation, I dashed into my studio, (actually, it's a shed at the end of my garden 🤭)
lit some scented candles, and picked up my brushes!
Certain colours amongst my many tubes of paint caught my eye, with a little voice in my head saying “use me, use me!”
They were the primary colours.
As I began to paint, the canvas came alive with blues and reds dancing like primal desires and fears,
while bursts of yellows emerged like piercing rays of sunshine!🌞
I then felt the need to put some tunes on from my phone’s Spotify playlist, as I got into the creative flow.
Meditation music –
high frequency sounds!
Literally giving the art good vibes💓
Instinctively, I chose to work with geometric shapes, creating an abstract version of angels.
My mind then wandered to my own little cherub, a 3-year-old toddler (😄- wish me luck!)
who has been a beautiful birth miracle and my muse.
As I continued to paint, it dawned on me
that over the years my perspective had transformed from a state of depression
to now, a place of security, joy, and positivity! 😃
I also realised that this inner journey helped create this new art series too!
It is a celebration of the protection, guidance,
and love embodied by guardian angels...
...created to heal feelings of uncertainty and inspire inner strength 💪 and peace. 🕊️
So, I wanted to share this happy outcome with you,

About Simmi Sandhu
Simmi is an acrylic and mixed medium artist from London.
She has exhibited at Keele University Gallery, Foxlowe Arts Centre, All Saints Arts and Media Centre and has been featured on BBC radio, discussing her vision, art and exhibitions. Her art has been collected by London based music record label,
Far Out Recordings.
Simmi holds a BA in Visual Theories from the University of East London and an MA in Contemporary Curating from Manchester Metropolitan University, making her a fully qualified Art Curator and now a full-time Artist.
